Pre-RTE teachers seek CM’s intervention for NTET exemption
Kohima, October 10 (MExN): The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) of Pre-Right to Education (RTE) Teachers, Nagaland, has sought Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio’s intervention with the Government of India for exemption of teachers appointed before the implementation of the Right to Education Act, 2009, from the Nagaland Teacher Eligibility Test (NTET).
In a press release, the JCC informed that it submitted a representation to the Chief Minister during a recent meeting, highlighting concerns over the mandatory eligibility test for teachers appointed under the rules and conditions applicable at the time of their recruitment.
The representation highlighted the difficulties and anxieties faced by Pre-RTE teachers, particularly those who have served for many years, it said.
The committee urged the Chief Minister to take up the matter with the Centre and explore a lawful and equitable resolution, taking into account the years of service rendered by the affected teachers and the circumstances under which they were appointed.
As per the JCC, the Chief Minister gave the delegation a hearing and expressed understanding of the concerns raised and reportedly assured the committee that he would discuss the matter with his Council of Ministers and MLAs and remain in touch regarding further developments.
The JCC expressed appreciation for the Chief Minister’s time and assurance, and said it remained hopeful that the State Government’s intervention and continued dialogue would help find a positive way forward for Pre-RTE teachers in Nagaland.
