WOKHA, AUGUST 10 (MExN): A preparatory meeting for the upcoming Banana Festival 2025 was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall here on Friday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar, IAS.

Officials from the Agriculture Department and various allied departments attended the meeting to discuss logistical arrangements, work distribution and execution strategies for the event. Discussions also focused on planning procedures, departmental coordination and inviting suggestions to ensure its smooth conduct.

The Banana Festival, to be held for the first time in Wokha district, is being organised under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative and aligns with the district’s Banana Vision Document. It aims to showcase the region’s banana cultivation and serve as a platform to promote local farmers, enhance productivity and generate sustainable income.

Kumar stressed the need for inter-departmental collaboration and community participation to make the festival a landmark event. He said the festival would act as a catalyst for agricultural growth, rural entrepreneurship and livelihood improvement in the district.

The event is expected to highlight Wokha’s agricultural potential, celebrate its farmers and create new avenues for economic empowerment through value addition, market linkages and cultural promotion.
