‘Press on for higher grounds’

Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The grand celebration of Western Sumi Students’ Union concluded on Sunday evening at Kuhuboto town with Y. Hewoto Awomi, MLA, 4th Ghaspani-I A/C gracing the valedictory function as a special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Hewoto stressed on the theme of the jubilee “emancipation” and called upon the students to live up to the theme of the jubilee. He urged the students to understand we have to be emancipated of what and not that we have to be contended just because we have achieved something but we have to always press on for higher grounds in all aspects of life.
He reminded the gathering that we have all ability which he have to work hard to make use of in order to be economically stable and also excel in educational field. Hewoto encouraged the students to always possess the will to listen and learn from others in order to be successful in life. “Nobody knows everything but everybody something” he said.  Reminding the students that respect and honor are something which cannot be brought but hard earned, he challenged them to pursue their goal with renewed commitment and earn respect for themselves and the community as well.
As a token of love, he donated a sum of Rs. One lakh towards the union, and Rs. 20,000 towards the jubilee choir team and Rs. 10,000 to Ato Area Students’ Union for presenting songs during the closing function.   
Shikaho Zhimomi, Convener, Jubilee finance committee and also former president of the union proposed vote of thanks. He thanked all those who were responsible for the successful celebration of the jubilee.
