Maligaon, November 28 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been undertaking special campaigns on regular basis during the festive season to sensitize passengers while travelling in trains. All the concerned officials of NF Railway kept a strict vigil on passenger movements while travelling in trains. Passengers and stakeholders were briefed about the safety measures while travelling and prohibition in carrying of any inflammable items in trains.
A mass public awareness campaign was done by NFR in its five divisions. During November 18 to 24, a total of 1740 trains were checked at 461 stations covering more than 1.24 lakh passengers for carrying any prohibited items. 1093 awareness campaigns were done at station premises where around 12953 porters/taxi drivers were briefed to aware them to maintain safety measures at stations sites. Around 556 old aged people, women and children were helped to board and de-board the trains during the rush, stated a press release issued by Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.
