Phek, July 11 (DIPR): The monthly DPDB meeting of Phek district was held on July 11 at the DC’s Conference Hall Phek. The Outgoing Chairman DPDB and Advisor Science & Technology, NRE, Art & Culture, Deo Nukhu chaired the meeting and also introduced the new Chairman of DPDB, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board, Neiba Kronu.
Minister for Health & Family Welfare in his short address called on the DPDB members to attend the meeting regularly stating that it was necessary in view of the nearing election to avoid unwanted problems for any urgent discussion as and when needed. He said that as we observe world population day we have to strive for sustainable population growth in the district to ensure a better living and better future. On the current electoral roll enumeration he warned that the enumeration process should not deprive anyone while carrying out the enumeration work.
Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Law & Justice, Yitachu said that any developmental activity undertaken by the government would be a liability/loss to the public if they were taken without proper planning; he added that Phek district would be a developed district only if proper development is initiated in all the areas of the district. Citing an example, he said that the most backward areas under Meluri sub-division needed proper attention and initiation from all departments if at all Phek district as a whole is to be called developed. On the proposed International Trade Center from the district he said that in order to reap the maximum benefit in trade and other related areas we need to equip ourselves educationally and work out sincere partnership to meet the economic activities as and when international trade starts.
Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare & Women Development, Chotisu Sazo dwelled on the importance of crop zoning based on stability of crops as the district primarily depends on agriculture for their livelihood. He stressed on the importance of nurturing and cultivating local giant bamboos for their commercial use in the future.
Deputy Chairman State Planning Board, Neiba Kronu stated on the importance of infrastructure development and preservation of the natural environment. The chairman also asked all the Head of Departments to give a two-year departmental activities report before the next DPDB meeting.
Technical Advisor for Science and Technology & IT, Deo Nukhu also stressed on equitable development throughout the district, stating that many areas are more backward than others, echoing his collogues he said that for implementing any major scheme in the district he called on the concerned implementing department/ officers to consult the elected members and to work hand in hand.
Agenda such as award for meritorious students of HSLC/HSSLC, building of district house at State Training Center, Nerhema and award for most sincere Gd-IV staff in the district, were deferred for pre-discussion of LADP on July 22. For creation of RD Block at Chetheba the Board endorsed the matter to the concerned department for further formalities. The Board gave the approval for construction of two roads under development of under developed areas (LAPD) fund under Meluri sub-division.
Earlier after a brief obituary reference the Board observed a two minutes silence in remembrance of Lt. Hotoshe EE (irrigation & FC) who expired on June 12 at Kohima after a prolonged illness. The department of Agriculture, PHE and Evaluation were directed to give their departmental activities report in the next meeting.
