Wokha, September 12 (DIPR): Wokha district planning & Development Board deliberated proposal put forward for the 12th Five Year Plan by various departments, on September 9 at DC Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Parliamentary Secretary and Chairman DPDB Wokha Y. Patton.
Commissioner & Secretary Planning, M. Patton enlightened the various stages of planning to the board. He said, the national goal for the 12th Five Year Plan was 9% growth. He also apprised the board that, the government target is for participatory government and inclusive growth. He challenged the officials in the district to provide information for higher level in the state to formulate planning process.
Participating in the discussion, Secretary Power, CM Tsanglao encouraged the officials to be sincere in identifying the targeted group, schemes and to submit the proposal for implementation. We should not blame our higher ups he added. It is you and me who are responsible, he maintained.
Planning is a holistic, bottom up participatory and innovative process, said Minister for Agriculture, Nagaland, Dr. Chumben, maintaining that any proposal for planning in the state level should come from the district.
Earlier, DRDA, Land Resources and Urban Development departments forwarded the proposal for the 12th Five Year Plan to the board. The board deliberated and approved the same. For the rest of the department, the chairman requested the Head of Offices to submit on or before 25th of September 2011.
Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Rovilatuo Mor apprised the board with an agenda on road improvement of Wokha Town and villages. SDO, National Highway, Titus Lotha explained his inability to maintain road due to paucity of fund. In order to meet the immediate requirement Dr. Chumben committed to donate 15 Truck load of boulder stone besides Rs.50,000/- (fifty thousand) which was earlier donated by him. Y. Patton Parliamentary Secretary Irrigation & Flood Control, Geology and Mining, Border Affairs and Chairman DPDB Wokha also committed to donate Rs.50,000/- (fifty thousand) towards road maintenance.
The DC requested the concern department to submit names of labourers for immediate requirement Commissioner & Secretary M. Patton, Secretary Power, CM Tsanglao, Secretary Land Revenue YL Jami and Chief Engineer PHE M. Ovung also participated in the discussion. All four legislators of the district attended the meeting. DC Wokha gave a concluding remark. He particularly appreciated various Head of Departments from Kohima who made their presence in the meeting.
