Protect the interests of local contractors: ENCSU

Dimapur, March 6 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (ENCSU) has requested the government to protect the interests of the local contractors of Tuensang, Mon, Longleng, and Kiphire districts adding that it  will be a huge embarrassment, as well as a let down of gargantuan proportions, if the “local contractors are not awarded work at their doorsteps and in their backyards”.
Through an open letter, the ENCSU also expressed their appreciation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, and Minister (R&B) Nagaland G. Kaito Aye, for initiating development projects at Tuensang, Mon, Longleng and Kiphire districts. “We are grateful to note that special attention is being given for infrastructure development in the aforesaid districts. We are immensely gratified that the demands of the ENPO are being positively addressed,” stated A. Neangba Konyak, ENCSU president.
The note also stated that Konyak contractors have been submitting their bids at competitive rates and on the basis of assurances given and cited that bids have been submitted for the recent contract floated for the construction of the road for Tizit to Noksang via Yanpan, Sukho and Laukun covering of 32.6 kms. “We look forward to working with the government for the welfare of the backward areas in particular and for the Nagas in general,” further stated ENCSU.
