Provide feedback by Oct 31, ENPO tells state govt

MON, OCTOBER 11 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) convened a coordination and consultative meeting with frontal and tribal organisations on October 11 in Mon Town. The assembly unanimously resolved to urge the State Government to provide its comments on Memorandum of Settlement (MoU) concerning the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) on or before October 31, 2024.

In a press communiqué, the ENPO stated that this request follows an earlier letter submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland on August 23, 2024, and a reminder note sent on September 14 regarding the need for a response expected by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

The ENPO also recalled that on December 18, 2023, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented the "Highlight of the Draft MoS with ENPO on FNT" to the state government, urging for prompt feedback. However, the issue is being stalemated till date for reasons best known to the state government, the ENPO stated.

The ENPO emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of the Eastern Nagas in fulfilling their long-cherished aspirations. Additionally, the organization announced plans to convene a Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting on November 1 to discuss the next steps regarding this pressing issue.
