PSA 56th meet underway at Phek village

The 56th meet of Phek Sports Association (PSA) got underway today at Phek Village Local Ground with MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as chief host.

Addressing the eight participating teams and public, Azo stated that 56 years of the sports meet is matured now and it is high time to introspect or retrospect how far it have achieved and what require to be done more to produce good sportspersons.

He questioned the level of dedication of sportspersons in their quest for excellence.

"Why can't we produce good sportspersons who can bring laurels to our state in particular and country in general? What areas are we lacking- avenues or dedication?" he questioned.

Azo also stressed on the need to do research to identify the reasons behind “our slackness in sports” and find out way forward to improve and excel in sports.

He stressed on the need to focus on infrastructure and also connect the talented youth towards professionalism.

To reach to greater heights one must possess punctuality, dedication, consistency and above all the fear of God, he said.

Further, he challenged the young sports enthusiast to dedicate oneself truly in order to become an established sportspersons.

Also speaking on the occasion, MLA Kezhienyi Khalo stated that a true sportsperson must practice a spirit of true sportsmanship in order to excel in their respective discipline.

He further emphasized the importance of preserving leadership who has a sincere vision for youth and a plan for the future generations.

Earlier, PSA president Vekuto Chizo delivered presidential address while Vethita Keyho delivered welcome address.

The meet is being assisted by Shurhonieyi Soho as field marshal and Vekhosheyi Keyho as chief referee.

The meet will go on till December 20.
