Public cautioned against violating waste disposal timings in Dimapur

Sanitation Branch of DMC has issued a reminder to residents and commercial establishments within municipal limits to strictly adhere to the designated waste disposal timings between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

Dimapur, August 13 (MExN): The Sanitation Branch of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), led by Achum Jami and Nzanbeni Humtsoe, has issued a reminder to residents and commercial establishments within municipal limits to strictly adhere to the designated waste disposal timings between 6:00 PM and 5:00 AM.

This follows repeated instances of waste being dumped outside the prescribed hours, particularly after scheduled collection rounds.

“Despite prior instructions, it has come to the notice of the Sanitation Branch, that waste continues to be deposited outside of the prescribed hours, particularly after the scheduled collection has been completed,’ they stated in a press release.

Expressing concern over the persistent violations, they noted that “such actions are resulting in unsanitary conditions, public inconvenience and the defacement of common areas. The indiscriminate disposal of garbage beyond the stipulated time window not only hampers the cleanliness efforts of the municipal sanitation staff but also poses serious health and environmental hazards.”

The authorities have urged the public to exercise civic responsibility and cooperate in maintaining public hygiene. Citizens have been urged to demonstrate civic responsibility by complying with the rules and preventing others from violating the stipulated timings.

The council cautioned that strict action, including penalties under the Municipal Act and other legal measures shall be initiated against individuals or entities found violating these guidelines.
