Dimapur, June 10 (MExN): Several leaders of the 17 Chizami Assembly Constituency cutting across party lines held a meeting-cum-get together programme at Glory Peak, Pfütsero on June 8. Several hundreds of people from different political parties attended the meeting with the motive to discuss about the development and uplift of the constituency leaving aside their party affiliation, according to a press release from programme co-ordinator Vekhosa Ruho.

The meeting deliberated on how to improve the constituency keeping in mind the upcoming the general election scheduled to be held next year. Some of the youth leaders from the area shared their grievances and the need of cooperation for development of the constituency, the release stated. 

Youth leader Vevoyi WD Vadeo, speaking on the occasion, said despite the political uncertainty, the public should work under the leadership of Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, even in the upcoming general elections for the betterment and uplift of the constituency.

Pointing out that the constituency has been lacking behind in terms of political development, human resources development and other developments, he called upon the need to work together leaving aside all political party affiliations to bear fruits for the youth and the area in general, the release stated.

Another youth leader, Zaveyi Kezo, suggested the need ‘to stop Bolero- Scorpio politics’ but to have future plans to develop and uplift the constituency at large. He urged the gathering not to make wrong decisions in politics anymore in the interest of the youth and society.

Kezo stated that the constituency cannot appoint opposition MLA anymore and suffer for the rest of the tenure. In the larger interest of the area, he called upon the gathering to join any political party which could work for uplift of the constituency.

Meanwhile, youth leader Shepo Dzudo urged the gathering to work together for the uplift of the society, stating that the constituency was lacking in developmental activities at the grassroot level despite having many renowned political leaders in the state.
