Public reception for late Gen (Retd) Kholi Konyak in Kohima

Our Correspondent Kohima | December 15 The Angami Public Organization (APO) today organized a public reception for late Gen (Retd) Kholi Chetkoh Konyak as the mortal remains passes through the state capital Kohima today. In a brief programme which took place at Old MLA Hostel Junction in honour of the departed Naga leader, APO vice president Kevilezo Savi in a condolence message said, “It is a great loss for the whole Naga society as he (Kholi) had served more than six decades.” “His life of dedicated service towards the Naga cause and aspirations is a rare quality which will be difficult to match,” Savi stated. Angami Youth Organization (AYO) general secretary Kekhrie Ffukha said, “He dedicated his whole life to the call of Naga nationalism for self determination.” Pfukha added that late Kholi was a true patriot and a nationalist whose remarkable deeds can never be erased from the minds of the people. Konyak Union Kohima (KUK) president Dr. W. Phola Konyak said, “He has rendered voluntary service to liberate the Naga nation from the occupation force for the last 62 years is indeed a long period of service given by him for the Naga cause.” His dedication and sacrificial service for the nation will be remembered by all the Nagas even by the generations to come,” Konyak added. (Retd) Khole would have been made NSCN (IM) President: Th Muivah DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 15 (MExN): NSCN (IM) General Secretary Th Muivah said late Gen (Retd) Kholi Chetkoh Konyak passed away at a time when the NSCN (IM) had collectively decided to elect him as President of the organization on December 14. In his passing, Late Kholi was working under the capacity of Vice-President of the NSCN (IM). Revealing this in a condolence message, Muivah said late Kholi was a true son of the soil who loved the Naga people and Nagalim. “He did his best he could for the cause and he gave his all for it. He was well versed in Naga history, geography and politics. He spent most of his prime life in the jungles,” the condolence message read. With the dawn of peace, late Kholi came back home with the aim of fighting for the cause through political negotiations and joined the NSCN (IM) at New Delhi for the same, Muivah recalled. The NSCN (IM) general secretary also termed it unfortunate that late Kholi passed away just when the final solution to the vexed Naga political issue was around the corner.
