Puliebadze Club Jotsoma observes foundation day

Jotsoma | August 1 : The Puliebadze Club Jotsoma today observed its 39th foundation day here at Lovers’ Paradise with MLA Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, chairman KVIB and advisor Music Task Force as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, Kire lauded the Puliebadze Club for involving in different areas be it social, sports and environmental issue. Dr. Kire said that the ban on sale of alcohol and other intoxicated things within the jurisdiction of Jotsoma is the greatest achievement made by the Club. He said the vision and firm stand of the Club in controlling the sale of intoxicated things had shown its deep concern for the well being of the villagers.
KVIB chairman challenged the Club to give more importance on sanitation drive in the village, adding that improper sanitary system would spread diseases and affect the health of the villagers.
Lauding the Club for carving niche in sports especially in the field football, he also encouraged the members to organise “Catch Them Young” activity so as to enable the local talents to expose themselves and latter play for the Club football team at the various level.
Expressing happiness over the immense talent of Naga youth in music, he called upon the youth to actively involve in the field. Also, stating that Music Academy is coming up at Jotsoma, he encouraged the music lovers of the area to take advantage of the same. Dr. Kire also assured to extend financial assistance to the Club through LADF. Later, he also hand over the 39th Puliebadze Club award to Mezhuneino, daughter of Kholie Peseyie for securing top 19 at the HSLC examinations.
Puliebadze Club president Er. Rokozhalie Gwirie said one of the major challenges before the club at the initial stage was the banning of selling IMFL and gambling within the jurisdiction of Jotsoma village. It was a difficult task since most of the club members were either involved in one or both, but the club had faced boldly and ban was successful. “This was possible because of the club member’s initiative who reports the matter to the club against any individual indulging in unwanted activities. Today, Jotsoma village is free from these undesirable social evils,” Er. Gwirie said.
One of the main objectives of the Club is to promote games and sports. The Club was registered under the Government of Nagaland, Directorate of School Education on 24th September 1980 and registration of rural libraries from Government of Nagaland, office of the Regional Cultural Officer, Kohima on May 3, 1982. The president said the club has been participating in some of the major football tournament within the state. The club football team emerged the champion in Classic Cup in 2003 and two times runners-up. The Club has one library sponsored by Raja Ram Mohan Roy (Kolkata) and more than 1, 100 books are available in the library, whereby the students are benefiting immensely by availing facility, Er. Gwirie said. Other activities being carried out by the club includes, tree plantation, village sanitation, repairing and maintenance of the village roads, renovation of selected sites Hydro project, free medical camp for the villagers, sponsoring football team for participating in the Royal Gold Cup Tournament, NSF Martyrs Trophy and Classic Club Tournament, maintenance of children library.
The Club has been participating in celebration of Independence Day/Republic Day by visiting jail, hospital, orphanage, mental hospital etc. Er. Gwirie also stated that in memory of late. Pulie Nakhro, one monument is to be erected at Puliebadze peak with his story inscribed on a stone. The preparation is in the final stage. The Club is also set to identify places of cultural and historical importance and also step will be taken to preserve and promote those places.
Kerisalie Nakhro and Neingulie Nagi read out general secretary and treasurer report respectively. The function was chaired by Lhousarovi Rino while pastor Sazoto Nakhro said invocation prayer. Special number was presented by Pelemeno Peseyie and friends, while vote of thanks was proposed by Pralhu Nagi.
