Purana Bazar community forms Tribal’s Council 

Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): The Purana Bazar community has formed a Tribal’s Council to function in the line of the Village Council Act 1978, informed a press release from the council. As per the release, the decision for the same was taken by the community at its meeting on February 19 where the necessity of having parallel council, on account of Purana Bazar Village Council being dissolved due to the up-gradation to Town Council, was deliberated. 

The meeting thoroughly discussed the importance of having a council to assist the administration in maintenance of law and order as well as the welfare of the general public and unanimously resolved to form Tribal’s Council, Purana Bazar, it informed.  The meeting further resolved that all the GBs and Community Chairman shall be the executive members of the council, added the release issued by Tohoshe Awomi, Chairman Tribal’s Council. Apart from the chairman, the meeting elected the others office bearers for 5 years term including   Sepipa Sangtam as Vice Chairman,  Suraj Pradhan as Secretary and Lakhi Mech as Joint Secretary. A total of 39 executive members were also elected at the meeting.
