DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21 (MExN): The Pangti Village Council (PVC) and Amur Falcon Roosting Area Union (AFRAU) has informed on the arrival of the Amur Falcons and reaffirmed to protect/conserve the birds by deploying AFRAU squads at strategic location to check any illegal activities.
A press release from the PVC and AFRAU cautioned that individuals found using drones at roosting sites will be dealt with stern action according to customary law. It also decided not to entertain/allow any visitor once again, with the exception of Forest Department officials and media.
It meanwhile expressed disappointment at the lack of response to the two organizations’ demand to change/remove the nomenclature ‘Amur Falcon Roosting Site’ from the work order advertised by the Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Nagaland on September 16, 2019 regarding the Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for upgradation of road from Wokha HQ leading to Amur Falcon Roosting (N Longidang).
The press release said that even after a lapse of one year, the same has not been intimated by the concerned department.
“Pangti Village is the only roosting site in Wokha District as declared by the Forest Department. We welcome any kind of development activities take place in Wokha in particular and Nagaland in general but not at the cost of our hardwork/sacrifice by misusing the hard earned tag ‘Falcon Capital of the World Pangti Village,’” the two organization said.
