Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): The department of Public Works issued a notice informing of “proceedings” against an SDO (PWD) for demolishing a government building to encroach land. The PWD (Housing) division of Dimapur today alleged that the engineer who was a SDO (PWD) of National Highway division Kiphire had demolished without authorization a government building, at PWD colony in Dimapur. The said SDO was a former occupant of the building, the notice from Er. Kahuli Sema, Executive Engineer of PWD (Dimapur) said.
The building was demolished in order to encroach into the department’s land, the executive engineer stated in its press note. The department said a show-cause notice was served to the erring officer; sufficient time was given to him to reconstruct the building with certain instructions, but he failed to comply, the official notice said. “Hence, proceedings will be initiated for appropriate action to the head of the department in the interest of public service, for destroying public property for personal interest without any approval from the government,” the notice said.
