Railway Board Member inspects Kamakhya facilities under NFR

Maligaon, May 11 (MExN): Railway Board Member (Traction and Rolling Stock) R Rajagopal conducted a comprehensive inspection of key operational and maintenance facilities at Kamakhya Coaching Depot under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), officials said on Monday.

The inspection, carried out on Saturday, focused on crew welfare, rolling stock maintenance, safety enhancement and adoption of advanced technologies. Senior railway officials, led by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, accompanied him during the visit.

At Kamakhya, Rajagopal inspected the running room and crew lobby, where he reviewed resting facilities and amenities provided to train crew members of the Vande Bharat Sleeper and other premium trains. He stressed maintaining high standards of comfort and operational readiness for railway staff.

During the visit to the Coach Maintenance Depot at Kamakhya, the Railway Board member inspected India’s first Vande Bharat rake and reviewed maintenance and safety practices being implemented at the depot.

At the pit line, he examined advanced methods being adopted for rolling stock condition monitoring and interacted with staff members, appreciating their dedication and the implementation of new safety measures.

The inspection also included a review of quality standards of Vande Bharat Sleeper coaches. Rajagopal suggested measures to further strengthen safety practices and improve maintenance efficiency.

Officials also briefed him on technology-based rolling stock and track monitoring systems being developed by the Lumding Division to improve predictive maintenance, operational safety and overall efficiency of railway operations across the zone.

Rajagopal later interacted with officers and staff, emphasising the importance of continuous innovation, safety consciousness and teamwork in railway operations.

Northeast Frontier Railway reiterated its commitment to modernisation, enhanced safety and passenger comfort through the adoption of advanced technologies and best operational practices.
