Maligaon, April 27 (MExN): The Ministry of Railways has announced a nationwide competition, “Rail Yatra Vritant Puraskar Yojana”, inviting citizens to share their rail travel experiences in Hindi with an aim to improve railway services and promote the use of the language.
The Railway Board said the initiative seeks to document experiences of the general public, including railway employees, and utilise feedback to enhance passenger facilities.
The competition offers cash prizes and citations, with the first prize set at Rs 10,000, second prize at Rs 8,000 and third prize at Rs 6,000. In addition, five consolation prizes of Rs 4,000 each will be awarded.
Participants have been asked to submit original rail travelogues in Hindi, with a word limit ranging from 3,000 to 3,500 words. Entries must be typed in double spacing with one-inch margins on all sides, and pages should be numbered with the total word count mentioned.
Applicants are required to provide details including name, designation, age, address, mother tongue, mobile number, email and total word count in capital letters at the beginning of the document.
Government employees participating in the competition must submit a declaration stating that no vigilance or disciplinary proceedings are pending against them. Non-government participants must declare that no criminal case is pending against them and that they are not undergoing any form of punishment.
All participants must also submit a declaration confirming that the travelogue is their original work and has not been awarded under any other scheme.
Entries, in duplicate, must be sent to the Assistant Director (Hindi Training), Room No. 316, COFMOW Railway Office Complex, Tilak Bridge, ITO, New Delhi – 110002, on or before July 31, 2026. Entries received after the deadline or submitted in a single copy will not be considered, the ministry said.
