Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): Indian Railways has replaced the conventional ICF coaches with modern Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches on the Rani Kamalapati–Agartala Special Express, a move aimed at improving passenger safety, comfort and overall travel experience.

A press release issued by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Train No. 01665 (Rani Kamalapati–Agartala) Special Express began operating with the new LHB rake from July 9, departing from Rani Kamalapati. The return service, Train No. 01666 (Agartala–Rani Kamalapati) Special Express, will commence operation with the LHB rake from July 12, departing from Agartala.

The railway said the introduction of LHB coaches forms part of Indian Railways' ongoing modernization programme. The coaches are equipped with an anti-telescopic design that helps reduce the risk of coaches climbing over one another in the event of a collision, thereby enhancing passenger safety.

The new coaches also feature improved suspension systems for a smoother and more stable ride, while their higher speed capability and upgraded interiors are expected to provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience.

According to the release, the LHB rake comprises 22 coaches, offering accommodation across different classes to cater to the varying needs of passengers.
