Raj Bhavan to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi

Kohima, September 16 (MExN): A seminar on thoughts and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi by eminent resource persons will be organised on October 2 at Raj Bhavan Kohima to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.  

According to PRO to Governor, PB Acharya informed that Raj Bhavans across the country will be organising programmes and seminars to mark the occasion.  

The Governor has instructed the Department of Higher Education to conduct Quiz Competitions related to Mahatma Gandhi in all districts of Nagaland. The winners of the competition will be felicitated on October 2 at Raj Bhavan. The programme will be attended by about 250 selected college students from Kohima and Dimapur.  

Interacting with College Principals and Government Officials, Governor Acharya also reiterated that UGC has set guidelines for Colleges to adopt villages for exchange of knowledge and for the overall social/economic betterment of the village communities. He called on the educational institutions to play their role in strengthening the society. The Governor said that students should visit these adopted villages and highlight the community on various issues like health, hygiene and the environment. He also stated that the targeted beneficiaries of the government schemes and programmes should be made by the students.
