
Kohima, September 7 (MExN): The Raj Bhavan, Nagaland will be organising an essay competition for the students of Nagaland on the topic, “Relevance of Gandhiji’s Thoughts for Building A Peaceful and Prosperous Nagaland.”
The Commissioner & Secretary to Governor, T Mhabemo Yanthan IAS, through a circular has informed all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to organise the essay competition, informed a press release from the PRO to Governor, Nagaland.
Students of High School and Higher Secondary School are eligible to participate in the competition and the first prize in each district will carry an award of Rs. 25000 with certificate while 2nd Prize winner will receive Rs. 15000 with certificate from the Governor, it said.
Yanthan, in the circular, further urged the DCs to take necessary steps immediately for wide publicity about the competition so as to reach to all the interested students in their respective district, it added.
Each district will constitute a committee headed by the respective DC to “evaluate/scrutinize the essays submitted by the students and declare the winners,” the release said.
The winners will be felicitated on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday celebration at Raj Bhavan on October 2, it added.
It further informed that schools of the students can determine the district the latter wish to represent. The DCs will also frame the last date for submission and provide a platform/email for the students to send their essays.
The DCs must ensure that the details of 1st and 2ndprize winners of each district including contact number should reach Raj Bhavan latest by September 27, it added.
Details of the essay competition
• Students of High School and Higher Secondary School are eligible
• Length of the essay should be 2000 words (approx)
• Essay must be submitted to respective DCs via email. The platform/email will be provided by the DCs
• DCs will frame the last date for submission
• Selection of winners will be done district wise
• First prize winner from each district will receive Rs. 25000 and 2nd Prize Rs. 15000 along with certificates from the Governor.
• Winners will be felicitated at Raj Bhavan on Gandhi Jayanti
