Attendees of the 111th birth anniversary celebration of Rani Gaidinliu in Dimapur on January 26.
Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): The 111th birth anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu was observed on January 26 at the Rongmei Customary Court, Chungaizang Rongmei Colony, Burma Camp, Dimapur.
The programme was organised by the Rongmei Women Organisation Dimapur to honour the life, sacrifice and legacy of Rani Gaidinliu, who dedicated her life to the freedom movement and to the preservation of indigenous faith, culture and identity.
The event was chaired by Gaibangliu Gangmei, Joint Secretary, Rongmei Women Organisation Dimapur. The invocation was pronounced by Thailikliu Kamei, Elder, seeking blessings for peace and unity. Jessy Phaomei, General Secretary, Rongmei Women Organisation Dimapur, delivered the welcome note and highlighted the relevance of Rani Gaidinliu’s ideals in contemporary society.
A special cultural number was presented by TRC Tangnajeilong. The keynote address was delivered by G Namgai, Advisor, RNPO, who spoke on the historical significance of Rani Gaidinliu’s role in India’s freedom struggle and her contribution towards safeguarding indigenous traditions and values.
The programme concluded with an acknowledgement delivered by Againa Gonmei, President, Rongmei Women Organisation Dimapur, who expressed gratitude to participants, elders and community members for their presence and cooperation in making the programme a success.
An anniversary lunch followed the programme, fostering fellowship and community interaction among the attendees.
The observance witnessed participation from elders, women leaders, youth and members of the Rongmei community.
