LONGLENG, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The District Health Society, Longleng, conducted a Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) camp at Hukphang village on September 9 to strengthen maternal and child health services and provide specialist consultations at the community level.
A medical team comprising officers and staff from the Chief Medical Officer’s office and District Hospital Longleng attended the camp.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Imtijungshi Aier, District Programme Officer (RCH/UIP), urged the public to avail the services provided during the camp and emphasised the importance of maternal and child health. Outreach initiatives such as RCH camps help bridge the gap between health facilities and rural communities, he added.
Other speakers included Dr Temsusashi, District TB Officer; Dr Mannan, District Vector-Borne Officer; and Dr Sanuzo, Paediatrician, District Hospital Longleng. The programme also saw participation from the Village Council Chairman of Hukphang and an invocation by the pastor of Hukphang Baptist Church.
According to officials, a total of 130 beneficiaries availed services during the camp. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) leaflets were distributed, while focused group discussions were held on child health, family planning, immunisation, antenatal care, breastfeeding and nutritional counselling.
