Kohima, April 8 (MExN): The Rural Development (RD) department conducted a performance review meeting of Block Development Officers (BDOs) at RD Conference Hall on April 8.

Commissioner and Secretary RD, Neposo Theluo maintained that the BDOs should work on improvement of performance under RGSA and to give attention to the 15th Finance Commission.

He urged the BDOs to speed up the account opening process for 15th FC so as to avoid any penalty and to provide the best materials when implementation begins.

He further stressed that the BDOs should visit the field and co-operate with the PHE department to assist and guide the villagers during the process.

The department’s Joint Director K Neibou Sekhose welcomed the gathering and stressed the responsibilities and etiquettes of being an officer. He also highlighted the achievements of the previous financial year, where three villages viz. Chiechama, Okotso and Kezoma received awards for various categories.

Speaking on the programmes and schemes being implemented by the department, the Joint Director spoke on the classification of the 15th Finance Commission and the type differentiation of tied and untied funds. On maintaining bank accounts of the various schemes, he stressed that separate bank accounts should be maintained for the respective programmes/schemes so as to enable smooth transaction/withdrawal of funds and proper implementation of the works under their specific respective schemes.

Under PMAY-G, Hamdok M Konyak, RDO, read out the report and status of performance of the Blocks while urging them to speed up the process of geo-tagging and registration for the sanctioned works.
