Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): With the idea to reach out to the ‘unchurched people’ including the alcoholics, druggies, sex workers etc the Sinai Ministry along with the Miqlat Ministry is organising the ‘Rock Revival 2011.’ It is a four day revival event which will be held from July 30, 2011 to August 2, 2011.
Addressing the media persons during a press conference held at the Sinai Café, the director of Sinai Ministry, Wabang Longchari informed that the main targeted group of people who are victims of anger, struggling with addiction of substance, facing depression etc. The ministering team will be reaching out to such people by going to places where they hang about like booze joints, brothel and market places.
Rock Revival 2011 on a mission to transform
The idea of the revival was conceived after director of Sinai Ministry Wabang Longchari lost his elder brother Late Lanutoshi Longchari, a talented musician at the age of 29 who was also a victim of alcoholism. Late Lanutoshi was an avid music lover and showed great potential as a promised musician and it was only during the last days of his life that he turned back to God and found his salvation while on a mission trip to Shillong.
Also speaking during the press conference Director of Miqlat Ministry, Asha expressed great expectation from the revival and said that there are many brothels in and around the town where sex workers are sexually abused, addicted to drugs and alcohol and these women are just crying out for help. She believes that there is “one soul needing Jesus, just waiting for someone to tell her of Him.” She also asserted that this revival will bring a radical transformation and people will worship God in the places wherever this event is hosted.
It is also a first of its kind event where the organisers are planning to blend in Christian rock music with the message of the gospel. The revival will feature UDX or Under Da Cross (formerly known as Dementia) and Frozenheart. Unlike other Christian revival programmes, the bands will be performing before the word of God followed by prayer and counselling. The speakers for the event are Rev David Jamir of Shillong and Alemla Apong, Founder of Children Evangelism Foundation. The venues are Nuton Basti (July 30), Railway Bazar/West Yard (July 31) and Urban Haat on August 1 and2. The services will start from 6:00 pm. Everyone is welcomed to the event.
