Realising the potentials of disabled persons

Since last year, the NPSC made a paradigm shifted from exclusivism to inclusivism by inducting disabled candidates to various post through open competitive exam. This is indeed a laudable step towards realizing the potentials of the differently abled persons.
For a long time, there seems to have no future for disabled, in fact, they were languishing with no hope in sight. Now, anyone with physical disability can dream high at all levels of competitions. This has a significant and positive impact in that, it boosted their confidence. While in the social front, parents and well-wishers will be encouraged to do everything within their limited means to give their wards the best shot.

It is heartening to note that despite, vicious circle of stigma and the lacks of one or more of their physical sense or organ, the disabled are gradually proving that they are second to none. Now, we see many disabled, who have their own tale of ordeals to tell, excelled in different fields of education. But it is more important to see to it that their potentials do not lay wasted in their disabled body. In this regard, the Govt., various NGOs, social organizations and individual- all have to pave ways by providing means and infrastructures to ensure their fullest participation in all activities.

Even now, we are not getting proper justices because the posts offered to disabled are only of group C and D. It is also discouraging to those candidates who got high ranking in the merit list. In a way, it can be said that the capabilities of disabled are been undermined. The Govt. should give a serious thought into it, so that there is equality of opportunity like the system prevails in UPSC. We expect a just selection in future, without compromising the merit.

Last but not the least, I on my behalf and on behalf of disabled community heartily congratulate Miss. Azo Magh and Mr. Lotha for their brave showing by successfully clearing the NPSC Exam. The efforts of those unsuccessful candidates are acknowledged and wish everyone a bright and successful future.
