Dimapur, March 23 (MExN): ‘Sumi Kumlah Pasu’ – a book on the contribution of Sumi revolutionary leaders written by late General K Zuheto Swu was released posthumously in Dimapur today. Swu, who was a general in the Revolutionary Government of Nagaland (RGN) and later retired as DIG in the Border Security Force, died in 2008 leaving his wife and children to complete the manuscript. The book was released by Congress MLA KL Chishi at the private residence of the late general in Thilixu village. Apart from family and friends, a good number of former RJN cadres were present at the ceremony.
‘Sumi Kumlah Pasu’ is the first edition of the book about Sumi revolutionaries who fought against the Indian forces in armed struggle. The book contains some unheard, unimagined accounts of heroic act of former Sumi RJN radicals and reformations that took place under the late general in eastern Nagaland. General Swu was the commander in the eastern command of the Naga Army towards the Burma border. The book is based on the accounts of the general and his men. It also contains some memorable pictures of the Naga Army and their achievements.
KL Chishi, who assisted in editing the manuscript, said that the book gives a thorough insight to the contributions of the Sumis in the armed struggle against the Indian forces. He said that the book will enlighten the community and particularly the younger generation. He also remarked that it is not easy to write a book, and especially a book like this one involves a lot of time and experience. He said all Sumis must be grateful for general Swu’s literary contribution.
Brigadier Tokhuvi Tuccu, a close aide of the general also spoke on the occasion. Tuccu spoke highly of the late leader and said the he was a person who suffered for his people. He recounted the sacrifices of the Naga Army; the hardship they undertook to walk to Pakistan to collect arms and other journeys through tough terrains.
Tuccu said that the pioneers of the Naga political struggle should never be forgotten. He said that the present negotiation with the Indian government is possible because of the foundation laid by the pioneers. Another book entitled ‘Ward Diaries’ by late general Swu is also awaiting release.
