Recruit new bus drivers, ANCSU appeals

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has acknowledged the State Government, Minister of Higher Education & Tourism, and the concerned department for addressing their demands by providing new buses to several government colleges and filling principal vacancies in key institutions.

In 2024, ANCSU had urged the government to allocate additional buses to government colleges across the state. Later, in March 2025, the union also raised concerns over the lack of principals in Dimapur Government College, Zunheboto Government College, and Wangkhao Government College.

On Wednesday, ANCSU President Tenyesinlo Bukh and General Secretary Kivinoka A Sema confirmed that the government had responded positively. New buses were allocated to Kohima Science College Jotsoma (Autonomous), Kohima College, Dimapur Government College, Phek Government College, and Fazl Ali College. Additionally, principal vacancies were filled through an order by the Higher Education & Technical Department dated May 16, 2025.

The Union expressed confidence that meritocracy is strictly maintained in such promotion and transfer to avoid future complications.
However, ANCSU further appealed to the State Government to recruit bus drivers to ensure smooth student transportation and avoid disruptions in college operations. “This prudent action has strengthened the educational institution and credence that the state government has serious concern for the students,” it stated.

The union reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the needs and aspirations of the college community in all circumstances.
