While every country and region across the world has its own unique problems, Additional Secretary, Labour & Employment Skill Development Entrepreneurship (L&ESDE), Kovi Meyase on Wednesday said that environmental concern is a common problem that the world over is facing.
Addressing the 17th Dzülekemia Teisozha (Dzüleke Village Day) at the Village Council Hall, he said Dzüleke was naturally blessed with clear water, clear air and forest. However, while the picturesque village is already known for its rich flora and fauna, and efforts are being made to conserve its rich resources, he urged upon amplifying these efforts.
Stating that the people of Dzüleke village already have “clear water and clear air,” he emphasized that in addition to these, they must also have “clear conscience.” He said that they should not remain complacent but make every possible effort to “preserve this natural environment given by God.” Pointing out that there are always ways they can improve to further protect the environment, he asserted, “refocus on preserving Dzüleke.” He also stated that Khonoma to Benreu has become one of the most important tourism corridors, and called upon the citizens of Dzüleke to refocus on finding more innovative ways to preserve and keep the village clean.
Apart from Eco-tourism, he said now there is also something called Horti-tourism. In this regard, he cited organic vegetables such as cabbage, pumpkins, etc that are grown in Dzüleke village and further urged for scaling up and promotion of organic vegetables produced from the village.
Further, with insights from his own personal experiences, he also said, “when you go out, you not only represent yourself but your village as well” and called upon the gathering to be good ambassadors of the place t hey come from.
Meyase also reminded the young population of Dzüleke to give due respect to their village elders and also seek their wisdom and blessings. He further noted that any society that progresses includes women and in this regard, emphasized that, “we must also give them (women) more space and opportunity.”
Mention may be made here that the 17th Dzülekemia Teisozha was hosted by three individuals from Dzüleke village namely Zasivi Meyase, Vimezolie Terhüja and Rokovotso Meyase.
In his greetings, Meto Khate recalled the pioneers, founders and elders of Dzüleke village and placed on record his appreciation for them and also thanked God for the 17th village day. He also expressed gratitude to the three individuals for hosting the village day.
Highlights of the event included opening prayer by Alhuno Meyase, folk tune by Dzüleke Youth, song by the women group, vote of thanks by Letso Meyase and benediction by Shürhovino Meyase. Dzüleke Village Chairman, Vitsiepielie Sophi chaired the programme.
