Usutomi village poor works on road
Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): Usutomi Village Development Board has expressed “grief” over what they are convinced is “poor developmental work” on the Kandniu-Satakha-Saptiqua road being constructed by one Millennium Construction Company since 2006.
The chief minister had declared the road to be a state highway during inaugurations way back in 2007 but now the work has “degraded” due to “partial intervention by the contractors,” the village’s development board stated in a note today. The note was appended by VDB secretary Obed Chishi.
The board is said to have been informed that the funds sanctioned by the government for the road construction project was not paid in time which hampered progress of the road. The people of Saptiqua area are facing immense difficulties reaching the district headquarter or any other place due to the poor road condition, the board said.
According to the board “only certain vehicles having four wheels” can ply on nth road, that too, barely. ‘The road is the only main lifeline connecting the area with others,’ the note said.
The board has appealed to the state government and the department in concern to intervene and address the matter.
