‘Reject Muivah’s socialism to stop killing’, says NNC

Dimapur August 23 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) stated that the only way to stop killing amongst the Nagas and to avoid a civil war was to reject the Muivah’s policy and his socialism which they felt it was the source of breeding evil activities in Nagaland. “The Naga longs for peace since killing among the Nagas was started by Isak and Muivah but no public leaders or church leaders could initiate to bring peace because they had been refusing to have peace with their own Naga brothers and instead they maintain peace with the enemy and in the veil of peace they continued to kill the Nagas” stated Thomas of the NNC.

According to the members, two Naga Reverends had gone to Bangkok and met Isak and Muivah on July 21 and 25, 2006 and had requested them to stop killing. Both the leaders responded, “Unless we are attacked we will not attack anyone. Any Naga national worker should severe themselves from collaboration with the opponents of the Nagas”.

The NNC felt that they had expressed those words as their blasphemy which cannot be tolerated by the Nagas anymore and added that soon after the meeting they attacked the Khaplang group at Akuluto area in Sumi Region on 9th August, 2006 and killed two cadres of NSCN (K). “With these attacks they intentionally abrogated peace agreement between the two groups (K and IM) signed on June, 2006 initiated by the Sumi Hoho leaders and  they had abducted three cadres of NNC/FGN workers on the 2nd, 15th and 16th August, 2006 and brutally tortured them”, the NNC stated.

The NNC also asserted that in 2001, Isak and Muivah had submitted 30 point competencies proposal to the Government of India demanding integration and an autonomous state within the Indian union and political negotiation with India. “Th. Muivah also admitted time and again that they have come down from demand of absolute sovereignty and stand for a special federal relationship with India and in the last month on July 30-31, 2006 when their peace talk with the Indian representatives in Bangkok, they had proposed to separate the Naga constitution but it would be within the framework of Indian constitution, for which Muivah stated, “We will accept the fundamental principles of the Indian constitution. It is the only way to prevent such killings and civil war if the Nagas reject Muivah’s policy and his socialism which is the source of breeding evil activities in Nagaland”.
