Rejoinder to ‘Right job by wrong person’

The Office of the Angami Students’ Union felt the need to respond the write-up `Right job by wrong person’ published in some local dallies on the 1st May 2012. The Union while making clear of its stand to further be Vigilant on the misuse of government designated vehicles, is appreciative of the concerns and opinion of the general public. And reminds that every Students’ organisations are but a platform that serves the interest of the society. Notably, despite ASU repeated appeal and issue of press statements to restraint from misusing Government designated vehicles, the appeals had fallen unto deaf ears of some individuals and were consequently caught in the act by ASU volunteers while conducting field checking.

The Union stating that signing of MoU only after the Government authorities failed to curb corruption does not make sense. The Union cannot be an idle spectator when the system is deteriorating and wait for the so called `outsourcing of responsibility to NGOs with proper MoU’. ASU is bemused that the Advisor of an elite organization instead of realizing the core of the issue is fairly gleeful in citing the legitimacy of ASU exercise. Presumably   the onus of the issue would rest on the advisor as well as his organization in leading the initiative for curbing the misuse of the privilege conferred to them instead of waiting for the “government department manning traffic or parking” to apprehend them or any other NGO “interfering in governmental affairs,   function and activities” for the matter. “Responsibility” is not some one else’s job to be outsourced, but it is a trait to be inculcated into one’s personality and by being responsible and abiding with the authorized norm, extreme measures would not have befallen on any officials.

ASU will remain vigilant and shall not have nonchalant individuals deride the basics of societal etiquette; the right job may have been accomplished by the wrong person, but if you happen to meet the right person do confide in him that the students’ are doing a better job in his place.

The Union henceforth shall not make any more publication on this rejoinder, however if need arise for any individual or group pertaining on this issue, the Union’s office will be available.
