Relocation of Dimapur DC office: CSOs call for citizen’s rally on Oct 5

Dimapur, October 2 (MExN): Organisations opposing the state government’s plans to relocate the Dimapur Deputy Commissioner’s office have called for a ‘mass citizen’s rally’ on October 5, under the aegis of a newly formed ‘Civil Society Organisations Core Committee against shifting of Deputy Commissioner’s Office Dimapur.’

According to a press release received on Saturday, the Core Committee was formed vide a meeting between Dimapur civil society organisations on October 1. On October 2, the Core Committee reportedly held a meeting and “unanimously decided to object the publication dated September 29, 2021” and strongly demanded that the government to reconsider the September 7 order issued by the Principal Secretary, Home, Government of Nagaland. It also resolved to reaffirm the ultimatum submitted earlier to the Nagaland Chief Minister on September 29.

“The Core Committee further resolved to hold a mass citizens rally on October 5, 2021, from City Tower junction to DC office commencing from 9:00 am onwards in case there is no positive response from the Government of Nagaland till October 4, 2021,” the release stated.

It further appealed to all the concerned citizens of Dimapur district “to be ready to assemble at the above mentioned venue for the cause of Dimapur Citizens.”
