Representation to CM Nagaland

We on behalf of the Phom Peoples’ Council, the Apex body of Phom community, with due respect and much pain in our hearts are compelled to put before you the pathetic condition of the main road (NH-61) conne¬ctinng Longleng to the rest of the state.
The NH-61, as it stands today and the only life line connecting Longleng to Changtongya is in a dismal condition. The road is narrow and not black topped and is full of pot holes. The red soil and stone quarri¬es project are out from the road everywhere.

‘This 34 KM of road drive is nightmarish, not a single bone remains unjerked as you pass this road. It presents a very sorry picture to any outsiders coming to Longleng for first time. The distance takes more than 2 hrs by Bus and around one and half hrs by sumo. The road has already

Witnessed 3-4 major accident in last one to three years and claimed the lives of more than 15 people. Longleng district Hq is already 2 yrs old now, and if Offices are to be shifted here, top bureaucrats to come here, and above all business & economic developments to take place here, then this road connection is the main hindrance. For long, people of this area is longing for improvement of this road.

Now, with the allotment of Chief Ministers’ Road Development Fund of Rs. 50.00 lacs, the improvement of road is being undertaking by the department which is highly encouraging.

However with this allocation alone, the entire stretch of road can not be satisfactorily completed as desired. In gratitude to your genuine concern for our people, we once again look forward for further allocation of fund in order to fulfill our long cherished dream.
