Request to the Govt of Nagaland to complete the Naga Patient Home in Vellore without further delay

Lipok Longkumer

The Naga Patient Home in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, was envisioned as a place of care and refuge for hundreds of Naga patients and their families who travel long distances to seek medical treatment in the city’s renowned hospitals, particularly the Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore. Today, the structure stands as a silent promise yet to be fulfilled.

Despite visible progress in its construction, the facility remains incomplete and non-functional, depriving many ailing Nagas of the support and shelter they so desperately need. For many patients and their caregivers, the absence of affordable and community-based accommodation leads to financial stress, emotional hardship, and isolation in an unfamiliar city. The dream of a space where our people can find comfort, assistance, and a sense of belonging during some of life’s most difficult moments remains unfulfilled.

The intent behind establishing the Naga Patient Home was noble and urgent, and it continues to be so. We earnestly appeal to the Government of Nagaland to take immediate and decisive action to complete this long-pending project. Let not Bureaucratic/Diplomatic/Political delays or procedural hurdles come in the way of compassion and care.

The completion of this facility is not merely about finishing a building—it is about honoring the dignity of the sick, upholding the values of community solidarity, and standing by those who face the most vulnerable chapters of their lives far away from home.
The time to act is now. The Naga Patient Home must be completed and made fully operational at the earliest—for the welfare of our people and the fulfillment of a vision rooted in care, unity, and hope.
