Dimapur April 10 (MExN): Following the demolishing of a Catholic Church April 2 allegedly by the Chairman of Kezo Town Council and a group of youths, a resolution was adopted today at the office of the SDO (C) Jakhama where the said Chairman, along with GBs and members of the town affirmed that henceforth there will not be any restrictions for the catholic community and expressed regret for the action. A copy of resolution issued by the office of the Sub-Divisional Office, Jakhama, Kohima made in the presence of SDO (C), central leaders of the SAPO, Kezo Village council and GBs and signed by the same stated that “basing on the resolution passed by the elders on January 1, 1968, we the Kezo Town Council were compelled to take the undesirable action.” It was expressed that that the SAPO and (C) Jakhama “regret for the losses and the damage incurred because of this action”
Clarification
With regard to the news-report under the headline “Catholic Church destroyed at Phek, NCYA forgives” appearing in the April 10 issue of The Morung Express, it is hereby clarified that Kezo town is under Kohima district and not in Phek as mentioned in the report. This inadvertent error is regretted.
