Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): Training on ‘role of men and women in resolving neighborhood conflicts’ was conducted by Peace Channel Dimapur at Y Zhimomi colony and Lotha Colony, Dimapur on February 21 and 22.


Addressing the participants, the resource person, Nepuni Paul Kolakhe and Caroline Leisan introduced the initiative of the peace channel and bringing everyone together on a common platform to promote peace in the society. 


The PFP meeting was carried out to reach the people for the call of peace. The session focused on the concept of universal peace, the speaker expressed that there is no distinction in regard to caste, creed, region or religion and is inclusive in nature when it comes to peace, stated a press note. 

 

Problem solving through peace building approach 

Caroline Leisan emphasized on problem solving through peace building approach. In relation to the concerned topic, activities were conducted to study how people handled the conflict situations and how they respond to it. Discussing about the variants of conflicts that is present in all spheres, the resource person raised issue concerning the influence of technology and social media that cause negative impact on men, women and youth in this contemporary time. 


Exchanging view about the cause and solution of such drawbacks, majority of the participants were of the view that many men, women and youth rejected and ignored the social gatherings due to inappropriate utilization of smart gadgets.

 

Importance of cautious verbal expression 

Nepuni Paul addressed the participants on the importance of cautious verbal expression which can prevent conflict and problems between individuals. He addressed how the behavioral conduct of a parent affects the child’s upbringing and their code of behavior. He encouraged the parents to avoid excessive control over the child’s expression but rather to develop a relationship that allows them to express and be independent about decision making accordingly.  


Discussing childrenand parents conflict 

During the discussion hour, M John Lotha, a participant while discussing about children and parents conflict, he put forth that the a sense of inferiority is cultivated in the minds of the youth when the elders compares them with others and indulges in discriminative approach, he emphasize that parents should encourage their children’s and express appreciation to enhance a good personality development and diverting them from going the wrong direction. Francis, another participant highlighted the concern of backdoor appointments and also initiated encouragement to the youths to not solely depend on government jobs and get acquainted with private sector as well.


The participants shared their views and opinions about the meetings conducted and further expressed their interest to attend more relative gatherings in the days to come.
