Senior citizens spend time to encourage each other during a programme held on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons at Dimapur Ao Baptist Church, Khermahal on October 1
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): As Nagaland joined the rest of the world in observing International Day of Older People, several programmes were held across the State to acknowledge the presence of old people in our midst. Speaking at a small gathering of senior citizens at the premise of the Dimapur Ao Baptist Church Town fellowship, Secretary (retired) and former Director NEZCC N. Bendang Ao encouraged the gathering to have a positive attitude and to live one day at a time while adding that complaining about the ills in our every day lives will not be beneficial.
Stating that ‘Life begins when you retire’, the retired officer said this was indeed true. “We start to live the real life after we retire”, he said. However he explained that living after retirement will depend much on how one was prepared before actual retirement. Sharing his insight on the topic, he gave four points i.e. preparing to settle down; healthcare before retirement; preparation to involve in various social, religious and public activities and lastly to regulate one’s life style. “Finally as Christians, let us know that God is in control”, he said and encouraged those gathered to walk with Jesus to get the best out of life.
