Kohima, August 17 (DIPR): Along with the rest of the country, the Department of New Renewable Energy (DNRE) government of Nagaland under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) is organizing the Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas (RGAUD)-Renewable Energy Day on August 20.
The occasion will commence with the rally at 8 a.m. till 9:00 am from Local Ground to The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow followed by Quiz and Singing competition at the Heritage, Old DC Bungalow where Minister for Forest, Environment, Ecology & Wildlife and Excise, M.C. Konyak will grace the occasion as the chief guest.
The Department has informed that Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas is observed every year in commemoration of the birth Anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi the then Prime Minister of India, with a view to address the national problem on energy crisis, climate change and its mitigation through mass rallies, human chains/runs, competitions with the theme ‘Renewable Energy’ such as Quiz, singing competition, involving students from the schools within the Kohima Municipality in the presence of various dignitaries.
