Kohima, March 11 (DIPR): A Thanksgiving Service in commemoration of the completion of four years of 2nd term of DAN Government was held at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima on 11thMarch 2012. Greeting the gathering, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said that God’s love, mercy and blessing has guided the Government in governing and leading the people. ‘We are indeed a blessed lot’ he commented. He said that the present Government takes it as a privilege to represent and serve the Naga people and can never be thankful enough for that. ‘We have done many wrongs in the eyes of God, people and friends. At times like this we ask for forgiveness and ask the church and people to pray for us and continue their support towards us,’ he added. Rio said that it is not possible to travel nine years of governing alone but it was by the grace of God and the support of the people that made this possible.
Thanking his colleagues for their support and co operation, Rio said it was a privilege to work with committed and responsible members representing the people and thanked God for them. The Chief Minister also thanked the State Chief Secretary, Lalthara and the bureaucrats for implementing the policies and programs of the Government which in turn brings development to the State. Thanking the Churches for their support, he requested for continued prayer and support for the Government. God has blessed us because we are committed, he added
Stating that DAN will continue to fight for the Naga cause, the Chief Minister said the fight is not lost.
He said that the cause is being recognized all over and thanked God for that and hopped that the people will continue to support in their prayers.
He further called upon the Legislatures to rededicate oneself to God and to continue working for the people. Rio also called upon the gathering to support and extend help in anyway possible for the upcoming NBCC Platinum Jubilee in April.
Chief Secretary, Lalthara while giving a short speech felt DAN Government to be most harmonious in terms of work atmosphere and governance and thanked the political leadership for the smooth work atmosphere. If we are thankful always to God we will prosper, he concluded.
The main speaker for the program, Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung said that both Church and Government are instituted by God and God has given power to the Government to look into the welfare of the people, protect the innocent, administer the laws, etc. Stating that as Christians we have two citizenships, one in this world and the other in Heaven and both are ordained by God, he called upon the gathering to glorify God by doing what is right and doing justice in ones work as Politicians and Officers. He said God is helping us and has put us in this position where one can do many good things for the people.
Male voices were presented by Chakhesang and Phom Baptist Church Kohima and a choral by the UBC sanctuary Choir, Kohima. The wives of the legislators also presented a special praise.
