Tizit | July 9 : Nagaland state Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated Paramount Tea Industry (PTI) at Tizit under Mon District on July 8 that was established under the initiative and partnership of Minister Education & SCERT Nyeiwang Konyak and Parliamentary Secretary RD & REPA Pangnyu Phom.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said Tizit has industrial potential, can become commercial hub next to Dimapur. However, he lamented that natural resources are all drawn to a close up and to establish a township has been failed miserably. “If you want to your cities to progress, you have to have vision, participation, friendly with outsiders, should warmly welcome and give safety to grow your town”, echoed Rio. Congratulating the proprietors of the PTI, Rio said the industry is the survival of hundred and thousand of small tea growers, he called for more efforts and assured of state governments’ support also added that state government will give a new thinking for the advancement of the tea growers.
Rio acknowledged that endurance of Tea growers stating that the tea growers have passed the hardest time over two decades though the state government does not have much programmes for the tea growers, tea growers has made enough effort to make a survival and responded to the memorandum submitted by Tizit Tea Farmers Union (TTFU), that grievances of the tea farmers will be considered and training will also be given to the Tea growers under the department of Agri adding the issues of the Tea Growers will be initiated by the state government that will reach Tea Board India. Also Rio extended his assurance to establish State bank of India (SBI), provided the people of Tizit make a high transaction and should have huge rate of business, and urged to build relationship with bank culture. While urging the Tea growers to plant more tea trees, Rio also suggested that instead of “Konyak Tea” (as printed on the container of the tea leaves), it will make more significant if it can be changed to “Angh Tea, From the land of Anghs”.
MLA Chingwang Konyak in his brief acknowledged Nyeiwang Konyak and Pangnyu Phom for the efforts in raising the industry which was the long need of the people of Mon district. He said ‘Our’ ignorance has given much advantage to the people and factories outside the state and appealed to make a double hit with a difference making stable and healthier economy.
President Konyak Union also in his brief address said with the opening of PTI, economic condition will shoot high as Greenply factory (Plywood factory at Tizit) was the only source of income for the youngsters and urged for more plantations of tea trees. President Phom People’s Forum, Ex-MLA John Konyak and President TTFU also spoke on the occasion while TTFU also presented memorandum to the chief minister. Minister Education & SCERT, Nyeiwang Konyak highlighted the brief history of PTI.
Earlier the programme was chaired by ADC Mon, while MLA Aloh Wangham delivered welcome address. Toxic Peace presented special number while Parliamentary Secretary S. Pangnyu Phom pronounced vote of thanks. The Chief Minister was accompanied by host of MLA’s representing Mon District, parliamentary Secretary Information & public Relation R. Tohanba and state government officials. PTI will hit across the state and country from the day of inauguration that produces ten varieties of tea leaves.
