MOKOKCHUNG, APRIL 18 (DIPR): The convener of the Organizing Committee of “Discover Mokokchung” a Moatsu Festive Motor Rally M.B Longkumer in a press release stated that in the past few years, seeing the important inputs made by the State Government to develop sectors like Tourism, Horticulture, Industry, Agri related activities etc, the committee came up with the idea to promote the potentialities of the various sectors in a unique manner by organizing a “Non – Competitive Motor Rally” on May 1-2 in Mokokchung District coinciding with the premier Ao festival Moatsu.
The objective of the Rally is to cover all the Government recognized Tourist areas in the District and also to showcase the potentialities of the unknown Sites/Villages and all its aspects. As a beginning this will also highlight the newly developed ‘Longra Penlichen’ which has been generously donated by the villages of Dibuia to promote Tourism on account of the Dibuia Baptist Church Centennial.
The unique motor rally will start from Mokokchung where the Minister of Education Imkong L Imchen will flag off the Rally. This will be followed by stoppages where most of the MLA’s of the District will participate by flagging off the rally in their respective Constituencies. The Rally will conclude at Mokokchung Town where the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio is being approached to be the Chief Guest and is also being requested to declare a package for the District on the event of the “Year of the Farmer 2006”.
The organizers have planned to take along a team of experts in various sectors like Agriculture, Horticulture, Tourism, Industry etc. so that during the course of the Rally in at all the stoppages, programmes have been planned where interactive sessions will be held with the villagers by these experts. This team of experts will analyse the findings and reports will be submitted to the Government through the DPDB and SPDB machinery, which they hoped will be useful and fruitful for the implementation of the various Government programmes in the District.
With the enthusiastic response being received so far, the organizers expect a very good turn out of participants from the State as well as from outside the State. All necessary arrangements are being made by different committees.
Organizing such an event requires immense moral, material and financial assistance from one and all concerned. And as such an earnest appeal has been made by the organisers to all well wishers for their invaluable contribution in any means possible towards the successful conduct of this ambitious venture. The organizing committee has also invited all interested to be a part of the event by participating in the Rally and to make the event successful.
