GUWAHATI, OCTOBER  3 (MExN): The Rongmei Community of Guwahati celebrated its 7th Charuangc Khatni Zawthanh Kariumei 2025 (Cultural and Freshers' Meet) on Friday, themed “Reaffirming Identity, Shaping Futures,” at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre Auditorium with great enthusiasm and unity.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Rongmei residents of Guwahati, along with a large number of freshers. Chief Guest Chaitali Panmei, IRS (Retd.), Former Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, NE Region, Government of India, and Guest of Honour Rev TP Mordecai, Associate Secretary, EFI North East, graced the occasion. Their addresses, focusing on the theme, inspired the audience and encouraged freshers to embrace their academic journeys with dedication.

The celebration showcased the rich culture and traditions of the Rongmei people, including cultural songs, traditional dances such as Laudy Laem (Paddy Threshing Dance) and Pheydak Laem (Weaving Dance), community singing and dancing (Pazeihmei), and the men’s traditional chant Huay Kauhmei. Traditional attire displays and cultural performances highlighted the community’s heritage, fostering pride, unity, and solidarity.

The programme also included the selection of Mister and Miss Freshers and the Rongmei Talent Hunt, engaging young participants and highlighting their talents. The event was jointly organised by Rongmei Phwam, Guwahati (RPG) and the Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation, Guwahati (RNSOG).
