Rongmei Youth Club marks 94th Martyrs’ Day of Haipou Jadonang

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Rongmei Youth Club (RYC), Dimapur, observed the 94th Martyrs’ Day of Haipou Jadonang at Tangnajeilong, Zeliangrongram Colony, with DG Robert, Member of the Collective Leadership, NSCN (IM) as the chief speaker.

The programme was chaired by Mathias Gangmei. RYC President Makuran Rongmei delivered the welcome address, while James Akham, President of Rongmei Community Dimapur, and Meishonglung Pamei, President of Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phuam (AMN), addressed the gathering.

In his address, DG Robert highlighted the freedom struggle and the rise of the Naga Freedom Movement led by Haipou Jadonang in the late 1920s against British colonial rule.

TRC Mathenmei (womenfolk) of Tangnajeilong and Rongmei Pui Phuam UNB – Burma Camp performed devotional songs dedicated to Haipou Jadonang, along with the community anthem.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Kaguigai Gonmei, Vice President of RYC. The commemoration paid tribute to the supreme sacrifice of Haipou Jadonang and encouraged the community to continue upholding his ideals of unity, courage, and freedom.
