Rotary Club conducts free heart check up for children in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Dimapur organised free heart check up camp for children born with congenital heart defects at Rotary Centre, Dimapur on April 30. 

Dr Atul Prabhu, Pediatric cardiologist screened the children. Altogether 21 children underwent checkup and children found suitable for surgery were offered free surgery at SSSS Hospital, Naya Raipur, Chhattisgarh. 

It may be noted that Rotary Club of Dimapur is arranging free heart surgeries for children since 2006 & 104 children have been operated successfully at various Rotary Selected Hospitals in India. PDG Shashi Varvandkar of RID 3161, who is the main person behind the camp, was also present. 

PDG Shashi interacted with the patients and assured them full cooperation if they come to Raipur for surgery. 

ADC Dimapur, Atokhe Aye paid a visit to the camp and interacted with Dr Atul, PDG Shashi & the patients’ families. 

On April 29, Rotary Club also organised an informal CME for pediatricians and other specialist doctors. Dr Atul Prabhu gave a presentation on the current scenario of congenital heart defects in the country, early detection & latest procedures for CHD. An interactive session was also held. 

Dr Avitso Legise, Cardiologist from CIHSR, Dimapur spoke about the cardio procedures and latest facilities available in Nagaland. Dr Khusbu Agarwal was the moderator of the CME.
