DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 28 (MExN): Following a ceasefire meeting held yesterday with the NSCN (IM), the new Chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Supervisory Board (CFMG) Maj Gen (Rtd) N. George met with both the GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) and the NSCN Khaplang groups in separate meetings. The Chairman of the CFMG/CFSB during the meeting reportedly conveyed to all concerned that there will be no more camps and also it was conveyed that a sub-office in Dimapur for the NSCN Khaplang would be established. However this has to be outside the ‘populated area’.
Senior NSCN Khaplang leader Wangtin Naga confirmed this statement when he mentioned that the meeting discussed about opening of sub office in Dimapur. Wangtin affirmed that in October last year; the Government of India had allowed it to open a sub office in Dimapur and informed that they were identifying the location. Wangtin also assured that there will be no more killing of brothers unless other factions provoke it and it was informed that a notice has already been served to the cadres to confine to their camps.
Meanwhile GPRN/NSCN leader C Singson stated that it was always the desire of the people that cease fire ground rules should be imposed in letter and spirit. He stated that they were also “trying very hard to control the situation”. He described the Ceasefire Supervisory Board meeting with the new Chairman as cordial and disclosed that the meeting discussed on how to strengthen and enforce the ceasefire ground rules in letter and spirit. “Trust between law enforcing agencies and GPRN/NSCN is very important”, he said.
