Routing

My friend and I were going to Road No 12 at Banjara Hills a few days back to check a room for rent. So I opened Ovi Maps(a mobile software) from my Nokia handset. I set the destination and made the Ovi Maps to route the way. It could not route the first time because it did not receive the GPS signal to locate my position, as I was under a tall building.  I selected the voice guidance, the voice I downloaded a week back with the help of another application. I plug in the ear phone.
So my friend and I started off in a bike. We were reaching a crossroad but the Ovi Maps was busy trying to receive the GPS signals. I was getting worried as the Voice Guidance was silent. Then out of the busy traffic the voice came alive. “After 300 meters take right” the Voice Guidance spoke. I was quite relieved. I took right. The Maps started routing the shortest way to reach the destination. As we made our way in the highway the voice guidance wanted me to take left. If I take left I would be leaving the main road and entering the small inner road for which I have more chance of getting lost. But trusting the voice guidance that it would lead me to my destination I took left. As we made our way through the inner road the Voice Guidance kept guiding me. It would say, “After 100 meters take right”, “Take left and then right”, “Take right”. At some point I doubted that the road we were taking was right because there were many turns and the environment seemed strange. But I kept on following the guidance that was popping in my ears. As the little machine was busy guiding us through the maze my friend asked me if I drove this road before, as I was driving without halting to ask people for the route. I replied,
“Not exactly”. It was the first time for me. The road was totally new to me but I had this Maps with the Voice Guidance busy in my ear. He was not aware of the mobile Maps in my pocket which was busy doing its work. Then at last it spoke, “After 100 meters you will reach your destination”. And we were there in seconds.
Life is like a riding on the road. Sometimes we were afraid to take a turn that may do us good because we have always been in the comfort zone. Taking an unfamiliar route may require of us sacrifice and pain. We would not like to experience hurts or failures by trying out a new route. Sometimes we become skeptical of what God put in our hearts because we are tired and heavy.
We may be trying to overcome problems in our own conscience. But we do have limits. If we are good enough to guide ourselves God might not have sent the flood or sent Jonah to the city of Nineveh. We need God for He is the author of life. What is man’s wisdom before God? “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” (1 Corinthians 1:27).

God has plans for each and everyone of our lives. Whose thoughts no one can fathom has planned the best for us.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” (Jeremiah 29:11).

We may have sleepless night trying to make a perfect plan or be waken up by dreams deep within us.
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass … Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.” (Psalm 37:4, 7)

We may try by keeping God aside. We may have the perfect plans and know nothing should go wrong. But it is God in the end.
“A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

Our loving God knows everything about us and what we are going through.
“O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.” (Psalm 139:1-3). If there is someone who knows us perfectly then it is God alone. That is why He can be our best comforter.

As a child of God when we walked down the busy street of life we may have no clue what turn we should take. We may not know who may be waiting for us to walk into their trap. But the soft voice of the Lord will help us go through. When we rest in the Lord we will be safe. “But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil.” (Proverbs 1:33)

Sometimes the environment around us seemed so strange that we begun to lose confidence in God. We hear lots of voices around us that make us deaf to hearing a timely word, because we became afraid and desperate. But be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). For no problem is out of God’s hand. He knows. As His word says, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31).

There is something different for those who trust the Lord. You may ask a believer why he could forgive, why he looked so happy, why he is filled with hope in living. It is because he is not lost. The Word of God is the voice guidance in his life. Even if he walked into the maze of life he hears the Voice of the Master. So he knows the way of life.
“Thy word (Bible) is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

As we ride down the road we know that “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord…” (Psalm 37:23) So each day is a new day.
