RPF NFR recovers contraband, smuggled goods worth over Rs 8.76 cror 

Guwahati, November 21 (MExN): The  Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway CNFR) detected 272 cases and recovered various contraband or smuggled goods worth over Rs 8.76 crore from January to October 2021, an official release said.

The items were recovered during regular checks and drives over NFR and 93 persons were also arrested for alleged involvement in their transportation, stated the release from NFR CPRO Guneet Kaur.

So far in November, the RPF has detected several cases of contraband goods including transportation of ganja through trains during last few days.

It included arrest of one person amd recovery of ganja worth about Rs. 6 lakh for alleged involvement in its transportation of contraband during November 10-17.

On November 10, RPF team of New Jalpaiguri also recovered 8 packets ganja weighing total 16 kgs and valued about Rs. 1.60 lakh while  CPDS team of Alipurduar recovered 10 packets unclaimed ganja weighing total 11.60 kgs valaued at about Rs. 1.10 lakh, it added.
