Maligaon, April 19 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has carried out a series of successful operations across multiple locations, apprehending four persons and recovering stolen mobile phones, officials said on Sunday.
On April 13, a team from CPDS/Rangiya apprehended an individual onboard Train No. 15930 Down for alleged theft of passenger belongings. A stolen mobile phone valued at around Rs 40,000 was recovered from his possession. The accused, along with the recovered item, was handed over to GRP/Rangiya, where a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In another operation on April 14, RPF personnel from Katihar (East) apprehended a person at Katihar Railway Station and recovered a stolen mobile phone worth approximately Rs 15,000. The accused was handed over to GRP/Katihar, which registered a case under appropriate sections of the BNS.
On the same day, RPF personnel from CPDS/Guwahati apprehended another individual at Guwahati Railway Station and recovered a stolen mobile phone valued at around Rs 15,000. The accused was handed over to GRP/Guwahati, where a case has been registered.
Further, on April 16, RPF personnel from New Bongaigaon apprehended one person at Bongaigaon Railway Station with a stolen mobile phone worth about Rs 10,000. The accused was handed over to GRP/New Bongaigaon for further legal proceedings.
The operations highlight the alertness and prompt action of RPF personnel in safeguarding passengers and their belongings, NFR said, reiterating its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure travel environment. Passengers have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to railway authorities.
