Nagaland has been allocated a total of Rs1,323.84 crore under the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) schemes for the financial years 2022-23 to 2025-26, as part of a broader Rs15,092.7 crore provision for the eight northeastern states.
As of now, 27 projects worth Rs563.87 crore have been sanctioned for the state.
This information was provided by Dr Sukanta Majumdar, the Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, in response to a question raised by Nagaland's Member of Parliament, S Phangnon Konyak, in the Rajya Sabha.
Dr Majumdar outlined the process through which projects are sanctioned, noting that the state governments submit proposals for funding in line with scheme guidelines.
These proposals are reviewed by the State Level Empowered Committee (SLEC), chaired by the Chief Secretary of the respective state. Once the recommendations are made, the Empowered Inter-ministerial Committee (EIMC), chaired by the Secretary of DoNER, reviews the proposals and submits them for approval from the Minister of Development of North Eastern Region.
The Minister further clarified that all states, including Nagaland, have been advised to submit projects within their allocated share to ensure efficient utilization of the funds.
